The Ministry of Environment handles periodic testing on animals and birds
 
Livestock Department under the Ministry has carried out periodic testing and immunization on diverse birds and animals for Aug 2011 to make sure that they are free from diseases.
 
Through serological tests there were 117 positive carriers of Brucella Bacteria out of 4897 tested samples which affecting cattle and sheep, 10 samples were found negative of Contagious caprine pleuropneumonia (CCPP) in goat  and 4 isolated animals carrying Salmonella and Pseudomonas bacteria.
 
Further, a number of sheep and 6 cows got antibodies against bluetongue disease and 2 sheep and cows were positive of foot and mouth disease were discovered in virus lab, while in the biotechnology laboratory test, results showed of two samples of pet birds are negative for Newcastle disease.
 
Moreover, inside the Parasites Laboratory in Doha, thirteen cows , four sheeps , three goats and one deer were diagnosed affected  by Theileriosis ( blood parasite), while one cow , five sheeps and eleven goats were infected by Anaplasmosis, as well as two camels were  positive of Tripa Nozuma parasite which causes of sleeping sickness.
 
However, those infected animals were treated.
 
Meanwhile, the ministry issued 210 veterinary health certificates as overall number for imported animals this month and 872 more permits to import 200 of  Won gold bird , 27 Houbara Bustard ,  57500 of hatching eggs, considering also the re-entry of 428 camels in state, whereas 89 dogs , 58 cats   were exported worldwide.
 
The ministry also advised to import 1593.69 tons of various feeds, 21.400 tons of feed additives and 15.670 tons of medicines.
 
It is indicated that about 32849 were treated and 2437 of camels , cows and cattle were  vaccinated against foot and mouth disease (Aphtae epizooticae), Rift Valley Fever , Peste Des Petits Ruminants (PPR), (CCPP) disease, sheep & goat Pox , camel and dog Pox disease and  Hemorrhagic septicemia likewise, 72 dogs and cats were vaccinated against Rabies.
 
On the other hand, poultry and birds were free of avian flu (H5N1).
 
The Department of Laboratory of the ministry made several recommendations and programs to be implemented to fight against diseases caused by insects likewise, setting of contracts for periodic maintenance of different devices and equipment in the laboratory.
