The Doha zoo under the ministry of environment has witnessed the rare delivery of Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris) which is threatened by extinction in the world preservation.
Further, this kind of animal species lives in the wilds of Indian subcontinent and its forests is classified in 2010 as among the endangered animals by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)).
“Precautionary and preventive measures have been taken for a successful birth of this kind of animals, they need a distinct care, service and balanced alimentation in an environment that is different to their natural habitat, likewise to maximum supervision of specialists to keep them in good health ” Mr. Hassan Hilal Al Mohannadi, head of the zoo said.
Moreover, Doha zoo has adopted five tigers (3 females and two males) for preserving this kind of tiger globally and they will be shown for visitors later.
Worth mentioning, Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris) lives in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan and the pregnancy period is about 104-106 days that can generates 1 - 4 cubs. At the age of 5-6 months they start to hunt their prey, getting matured at 3-5 years and their life span is until 18 years.
